University Innovation Fellows
Stanford's Hasso Plattner Institute of Design, with the Design Lab at Twente
I found the program through a great friend who had been part of it. The process was long. Application, interviews, recommendation letters, and the wait. Three of us got in. Tatiana, David, and me. The curious detail is that all three of us come from a COAR. Me from COAR Huancavelica, David from COAR La Libertad, Tatiana from COAR Junín.
The training was like carrying a full extra university course while I was working and taking a maximum course load. Everything we learned had to be applied on campus immediately, guided by a mentor who was a former fellow. Out of it came Breakout, an initiative to open up entrepreneurship, tech, and innovation for students who don't usually get a seat at that table. We've brought founders from across LATAM, some from Y Combinator, Harvard Business School candidates, VCs, and corporate innovation teams. We're still building it.
In April we presented at the UIF Global Summit at the DesignLab of the University of Twente, in Enschede. I met incredible people from many countries, and the program's co-founders, who work at Stanford.
